LLOYD Werft has started to cut NCL's cruiseship newbuilding Pride of America
in two in preperation for the lengthening of the hull by 25 m, to be carried
out of the yard's floating dock.
At the same time, completion of the upper decks of the passengership by setting
new steel sections on the aft section is continuing.
The Dutch general cargo vessel Sylvia has meanwhile transported another load
of steel plates and pipes from Pascagoula to Bremerhaven to be used in the
lengthening.
The plates had originally been destined for the building of Pride of America's
sister vessel.
The Pride of America is scheduled for dilivery to NCL in April 2004. Its
lengthening will increase passenger capacity from about 2,000 to 2,500.
