Lloyd Werft to take on task of getting Aurora back in action

Lloyd Werft has won the contract to repair the P&O Cruise ship Aurora (76,152 gt) in a project that will also take in a rescheduled refit previously envisaged for later in 2005, writes Hugh O’Mahony. A spokeswoman for P&O Cruises said that “major parts” of the motor would be replaced. She said that the general refit would “obviate the need for
repairs on the vessel later in the year”. Lloyd Werft chief executive Werner Lüken said the full specification for the ship refit had not yet been disclosed to the yard, with discussions due to start this week. Mr. Lüken…said the entire job would take 70 days…
