Ship Repair Newsletter #941, 8-27/2004
Lloyd Werft:
Germanys Lloyd Werft (Bremerhaven) is continuing to operate normally under
insolvency rules, with the full support of all the creditors. The yard is expected
to come out of insolvency when the NCL cruise vessel Pride of America is delivered
during June next year (2005).
This year (2004) the largest repair projects have involved three cruise vessels,
Cunards QE2, P&Os Oriana and Costas Costa Victoria. There
has also been a series of containership from US boxship owner Lykes Lines. Apart
from NCL cruise vessel Pride of America, Lloyd Werft is currently working an
a long term refit programme for the German Navy Frigate Bremen, which will be
completed in January next year (2005), the 12,950 dwt containership Huskey Runner,
which is owned by Germanys Magellan Chartering Services, Hamburg, and
the 20,100 dwt containership Novia, which is owned by Germanys Herman
Dauelsberg GmbH, Bremen. Also due is the German Polar research vessel Polar Stern, which will arrive
during October for a week stay at the yard
